Message from the President

As-salaamu-alaiykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuhu

Dear Past Presidents, Respected Elders, Brothers, Sisters, Youth and Children

First and foremost, I wish to thank Allah (SWT) and all members for showing confidence in our team. This team truly reflects our Jamaat. I pray to Allah (SWT) that He Guides us to do what is best for the Jamaat and the Muslim Ummah.

As we enter the holidays and end of the year 2021, please remember to take time off from work and focus on family and friends. Please also take time to reflect individually and collectively as a Jamaat. At the same time, please bear in mind the current pandemic situation. There are restrictions in gatherings and I strongly encourage everyone to follow your local guidelines and practice all protocols for our own safety. Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Executive team in case of any assistance.

The date Nov 10 2021 marked the 20th year anniversary of adoption of our initial constitution. Yes, 20 YEARS of existence. On this occasion I wish to extend my heartfelt Mubarakis to all members and especially the initial founders who worked so hard to put together a jamaat, basically from scratch. We cannot over-emphasize the effort of so many individuals – especially our past Presidents who led the jamaat to achieve outstanding milestones since inception. Indeed we have gone through ups and downs, like every other family, but we have never lost our love for our Jamaat. Let us reflect on that – it’s what keeps us together and will be the one reason we shall grow stronger, by the Will and Mercy of Allah (SWT).

I wanted to keep everyone abreast of the activities the Executive has been working on over the past couple of months, since taking office.

  • Alhamdulillah, we had a very good handover meeting with the past Executive committee and wish to thank our immediate Past President, Br Sadik Admani, for his leadership and support to make the handover very smooth.
  • The Executive Committee and Trustee Board has been brainstorming on activities for the short term as well as strategic direction for the Jamaat. It is still work-in-progress and we will InShaaAllah share with the members in due course.
  • A fund-raising was held and Alhamdulillah, as a Jamaat, we were able to sponsor an orphan through Human Concern International (HCI). May Allah (SWT) accept our humble work. On behalf of the Executive Committee and my own behalf, I wish to thank all members for their duas and support.
  • Organize our technical infrastructure such as common storage of all documents, creating email accounts for each member of the executive team and use of Google Workspace for collaboration.

Our next tasks are to prepare a schedule of activities for the year 2022 and continue on the work initiated by the past Executive. InShaaAllah we will share this in advance.

In closing I would like to re-iterate the importance of following government guidelines and safety protocols. Please do not hesitate to contact us in case any assistance is required. On a personal note, please feel free to reach out to me by email/phone/text for any concerns or comments you may have.
